Botox

Smooth away those frown lines during your lunch break – and still have time for lunch! BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines; forehead, crows feet, eyebrow lifts, and lip enhancements. Treatments only require 10 minutes, and results can last up to four to six months.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better 1 month after treatment.

Juvederm

Find out why Juvederm is the fastest-growing non-surgical aesthetic procedure in the United States! The process takes roughly 15 minutes to complete, the results are immediate—and best yet, they last up to one year!

Juvederm is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturallyl occuring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your levels of hyaluronic acid may diminish with age, contributing to wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is eased under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines. Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, thre are no allergy tests required prior to treatment, and it works on all skin types and colors.

Tailor your treatment to meet your needs: Juvederm injectable gel is available in two formulations—Juvederm Ultra for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial lines, and Juvederm Ultra Plus, a more robust formulation for correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.

Restylane®

Restylane® delays the signs of ageing by giving nature a helping hand. It boosts the skin’s hydration system to refresh looks naturally by restoring youthful volume to the skin. So if creams are no longer living up to their promise and surgery is a step too far, Restylane is probably the ideal treatment for you.

Acne is a disease of the pilo sebaceous unit (the hair follicle and oil gland). The oil normally passes from the sebaceous gland or oil gland into the hair shaft and onto the skin. Many factors play a role in the cause of acne (i.e. hormones, heredity, bacteria, etc.)

With the increased oil production around puberty and through life, some hair follicles plug or form a micro comedone. This may cause a pustule due to bacterial growth and rupture of the hair follicle which causes a reaction in the skin which can evolve from a micro comedone or plugged follicle to a pustule or cystic reaction. Acne may persist to some degree throughout life.

Treatment of acne varies according to severity;

Rosacea in its early stages is a vascular disease of cheeks mostly with telangectasia or small vessels of the nose and cheeks that can persist or progress to inflammatory rosacea, that involves papules (small raised lesions), pustules, larger deep lesions, or nodules. The lesions of rosacea are a deeper red color than lesions of acne.

Rosacea can progress to rhinophyma or an enlarged red nose due to sebaceous or oil gland over activity and growth. This has been called a “rum blossom nose” and has been written about as far back as Shakespeare as the red large nose of a drunk such as W. C. Fields. However, people with rosacea are not alcoholics.

Rosacea can also involve the eyelids and can even feel in severe cases as if a foreign body is in the eye (occular rosacea).

Treatment of Rosacea

Several topical entities are used such as metrogel and differin. Oral antibiotics have an anti-inflammatory component that is helpful in rosacea also. Each case and treatment is different and a combination of topical and oral therapy is best.

Precancerous Tumors

The most common type is an actinic or solar keratosis - which occur on sun exposed areas on light complexioned people. The lesion has a rough or scaly surface and irregular border. They are brown to tan usually on the face, neck, hands, forearms and/or any sun exposed area. Treatment varies from topical chemo-therapy to liquid nitrogen and an occasional shave or curettage. Actinic keratosis, if untreated, may progress to a squamous cell carcinoma. A specialized form of actinic keratosis is the cutaneous horn which also may have cancer at the base.

Skin Cancer

Our goals:

Prevention

Detection

Treatment

There are several different types of skin cancers but the vast majority of cases include Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), which is the most common type of skin cancer, Squanamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), and Malignant Melanoma (MM); listed in descending order of frequency and ascending order aggressiveness.

With any type of cancer, an early diagnosis and treatment will offer a much higher rate of a cure than going undetected; even for malignant melanoma. Sunlight and hereditary predisposition are key factors in most skin cancers.

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)

BCC is the most common type of skin cancer and is almost always curable. The type of skin cancer is usually caused by over exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet radiation over the first 20 years of life, particularly childhood. Basal cells are almost always in sun exposed areas—with superficial BCC or nodular-ulcerative BCC—most common. They appear differently from a red patch with superficial scaling to a single nodular lesion to ulcerated lesions with pearly borders. They can vary in color from red to whitish, brown or black and a pearly or waxy border.

Basal cells are most dangerous when they are close to facial features, where early detection can help prevent much of the bad cosmetic aftermath. A rare, but important BCC is a sclerosing BCC that requires specialized surgery and pathological confirmation of clear borders at the time of surgery.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)

SCC is the second most common type of skin cancer. This type of skin cancer is caused mainly by heredity or over exposure to sunlight. Squamous cells can appear in areas of sun damaged skin and precancerous lesions such as actinic keratosis. Squamous cells can be normal skin color, red or brown. They can appear as red or brown scaling patches with crust and even occasional bleeding.

Malignant Melanoma (MM)

Again, heredity and sunlight are predisposing agents. Melanoma can arise individually from normal skin or from existing moles. People with more than 50 moles have more of a tendency for malignant melanoma. Approximately 50% of malignant melanoma occur de novo or starting spontaneously and not from an existing mole. A high percentage of malignant melanoma in women occur during pregnancy. Melanomas must be detected early and treated.

Melanoma can be raised; black, brown, red, tan and flesh colored (amelonotic malignant melanoma). Melanomas certainly contain combinations of the above colors. If they are left undetected, they may mature and metastasize (spread) and can result in death.

The “A, B, C, D, E” of Melanoma Detection

Things to watch for:

A Asymmetry - each half appearing to be different.
B Borders - uneven
C Color - multiple colors in the same lesion
D Diameter - is the size greater than 6mm or bigger than a pencil eraser
E Evolving- changing

Treatment of Pre-Cancerous and Cancerous Lesions

Precancerous

Most precancerous lesions can be treated with topical chemotherapy that usually leaves no marks. Occasionally, liquid nitrogen is required.

Cancerous

The treatment of basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers depends on the pathology and location. This is decided with each individual case and there are several approaches.

The extent of the treatment of malignant melanoma depends on progression of the individual lesion and whether or not this has been confined or has already spread. This is decided after biopsy and physical exam and is very individualized.

Lose those unwanted inches easily! Sculpt your body through a series of near-painless injections to get the shape you desire. Precise body contouring is possible in localized areas such as the waistline (spare tire), hips, thighs, knees and abdomen. LipoDissolve can also be used for the reduction of double chins and saggy eyelids and facial bulges.

How does it work?

LipoDissolve is derived from a naturally occurring enzyme called Phosphatidylcoline (PPC), which is found in Soya oil, the main component of soy lecithin, found in many natural food products today. Lecithin has been medically proven to have the ability to break down fat and reduce cholesterol. PPC has been used for fat removal by LipoDissolve physicians for several years as a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures such as liposuction.

Injections of LipoDissolve break down the walls of the fatty cells, eliminating the fat and shrinking the cells. The fat is then eliminated from the body through normal waste removal. The result? After 2-4 injections, a noticeable difference in your body’s shape!

Improve your skin in only 20 minutes with the Vitalize Peel® by SkinMedica. After just one treatment, you’ll notice an improvement in skin texture, a lessening of age spots and freckles, and smaller pores. The Vitalize Peel® improves the skin’s overall appearance, decreasing fine line wrinkles and restoring even skin tones previously disrupted by acne scarring, sun damage, age spots and melasma.

How does Vitalize Peel® work?

The Vitalize Peel® is a special formulation of mild acids that provide a complete, consistent peel with no downtime and predictable results. This chemical peel includes a blend of agents: alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, resorcinol, and retinoic acid – all of which are proven to be safe, effective and the only peel on the market that is safe for all skin types and complexions.
